Fedex Donates US$15,000 To Build Homes In Lenggeng
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- FedEx
Express, the world's largest express transportation company, is
donating US$15,000 (US$1=RM3.13) to build homes in Lenggeng, Negeri
Sembilan, in conjunction with World Humanitarian Day.
In a
statement here Tuesday, FedEx said the company is partnering with
Habitat for Humanity Malaysia to build more homes and where
necessary, renovate and extend present living accomodations for Orang
Asli families living in Lenggeng.
"We believe that this
is a very meaningful project as we have seen the positive impact to
the Orang Asli families living in Lenggeng after completing our first
project in 2008," said Ramesh Kumar Singam, Managing Director,
FedEx Express, Malaysia and Brunei.
In 2008-2009, FedEx worked
with Habitat for Humanity Malaysia to build two new homes and
renovate four houses for six Orang Asli families in Lenggeng.
A
total of 120 FedEx volunteers were involved in the project.
